What is Lip Blush?

Lip Blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing procedure that enhances the natural color and shape of your lips, giving them a fuller and more defined appearance. Using specialized pigments and a fine needle, the procedure deposits color into the lips, resulting in a natural, subtle tint.

Benefits of Lip Blush:

  • Natural Look: Achieves a soft, natural tint that enhances your lips without the need for daily lipstick application.

  • Fuller Appearance: Gives the illusion of fuller, more youthful lips by adding color and definition to the lip line.

  • Long-Lasting Results: Typically lasts between 1-3 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.

  • Customized Color: Pigments are customized to complement your natural lip color and personal preferences.

  • Time-Saving: Reduces the time spent on daily makeup routines, as your lips will always look naturally beautiful.

The Procedure:

  1. Consultation: We begin with a consultation to understand your desired look and select the perfect pigment shade.

  2. Preparation: Your lips are cleaned and numbed with a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort during the procedure.

  3. Application: Using a fine needle cartridge and tattoo pen, I carefully implant pmu pigment to your lips, focusing on achieving an even and natural look.

  4. Aftercare Instructions: You'll receive detailed aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing and optimal results.

What to Expect:

  • Duration: The entire procedure typically takes about 2-3 hours.

  • Discomfort: Mild discomfort is expected, but most clients find the procedure quite tolerable due to the numbing cream.

  • Swelling: Lips swell more than brows when it comes to permanent makeup, and is to be expected.

  • Bleeding: Lips bleed more than brows due to the skin it’s being performed on, and is to be expected. It’s very important you do not drink alcohol, or take anything like advil or aspirin that will thin your blood 24 hours before the morning of your procedure.

  • Healing: Initial healing takes about 1-2 weeks, with full results visible after 4-6 weeks.

  • Touch-Ups: A touch-up session is recommended 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure to perfect the color and shape. 1-2 touch ups may be needed and depend on how much swelling or bleeding occurs.

For Clients Who Have Had the Procedure Before

For all clients who have permanent cosmetic makeup procedure performed, we only use the very finest pigments available. Some procedures may need to be repeated because the original application can fade anywhere from 25% to 40%. Individual chemical and genetic makeup can affect the final result.

We Cannot Predict Your Fading Experience

It is fully possible to get the perfect results with only one application; however, this cannot be guaranteed. Please remember that the amount of pigment you retain or lose after your initial application is not a reflection of the quality of work. Pigment retention varies with each person. In case your procedure must be repeated, you will need to wait at least 28 days of the date of your original application.

HEALING PROCESS

The healing process for lip blushing typically involves several stages over the course of a few weeks. Here's a brief overview:

1. **Immediately After the Procedure**:

   - Your lips will appear very vibrant and swollen, which is normal.

   - The color will be much more intense than the final result.

2. **First Few Days (Days 1-3)**:

   - Swelling will gradually reduce.

   - Lips may feel dry and tight, and the color will start to darken slightly as scabs form.

3. **Peeling Phase (Days 3-7)**:

   - Lips will begin to peel, and the top layer of color may flake off.

   - It's important not to pick at the peeling skin to avoid affecting the final outcome.

4. **Post-Peeling (Days 7-10)**:

   - After peeling, lips may look lighter than expected. This is normal as the skin is regenerating.

   - The true color will start to emerge as the new skin heals.

5. **Final Results (Weeks 4-6)**:

   - Full healing can take up to 4-6 weeks.

   - The final color will be more settled and natural-looking.

Pre-Care Instructions:

  • Do not work out 24 hours before procedure.

  • NO alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before procedure (Yes, there is caffeine in decaf coffee and tea!).

  • Avoid sun and tanning one week prior to procedure.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 24 hours before procedure.

  • Avoid power shakes and power greens, Fish Oil, and "Hair, Skin, Nail" supplements 24 hours prior to procedure.

  • Discontinue Glycolics, Chemical Peels and Retin-A 4 weeks prior.

  • Refrain from use of any Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) products close to the eyebrow area 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after your procedure. Check your moisturizer, facewash BB or CC creams and makeup primers for anything that says acid.

  • Please Note: You will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle as well.

  • You have to be off any kind of Accutane for 1 year. NO Exceptions!

  • Fillers should be done six weeks prior to scheduled procedure or six weeks after procedure.

  • Botox should be performed two weeks prior to scheduled procedure or two weeks after.

Cold Sores and Fever Blisters:

In the case of permanent lip color, cold sores and fever blisters MUST be treated. If you get cold sores or have ever had one in the past, you will need an antiviral prescription from your doctor before a lip procedure. Physicians usually instruct to take it 2 days before. As this procedure will bring out the virus if not medicated beforehand.

Oily Skin:

If you have oily skin, results will appear softer and may require additional procedures.

Preparing the Skin

To prepare the skin, you will need to cleanse the area free of makeup. Clean thoroughly with a face wash or apply antibacterial soap to remove any excess skin oils.

Pain Preparation

PMU can be a painful procedure. However, there are great numbing solutions we provide for before, during and after that can be used for comfort throughout your PMU procedure.

Aftercare Instructions

Post Procedure:

There will be an epithelial crust that forms in the days following the procedure. This crust is a combination of dried pigment and plasma that forms externally. It is important that you do not pick it. Picking the crust will result in a loss of pigment. The crust will fall off naturally within a few days. For the first few days following the procedure, the area will feel similar to that of a sunburn. A topical ointment can help soothe the area. Apply antibiotic ointment twice daily. This will soothe the area, keeping it moist and helping it heal properly.

Do not touch the treated area unless applying ointment. No scratching, rubbing, or picking of the treated area

  • Apply ointment 1 - 3 times a day on treated area until peeling comes off; normally 5 to 7 days. (DO NOT peel the area yourself, let this fall off naturally)

  • Follow with antibiotic ointment for one week as needed.

  • Touch up may be done after 28 days, however its best to wait 30-60 days.

  • Think about germs, almost obsessively when considering what is ok for your lips to touch.

  • Be cautious around the area (such as pulling clothing over your head)

  • Do not apply makeup on treated area until fully healed after 28 days.

  • Steer clear of spicy foods, hot drinks, and excessive sweating for the first week.

  • Avoid touching or licking your lips excessively.

  • Avoid spicy foods, hot drinks, and heavy exercise for the first few days.

  • Avoid eating any foods that stick to your lips when eating like a cheeseburger as it can peel off skin and pigment with it.

  • Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid swimming or saunas during the initial healing period.

  • No oral sex or making out. Avoid any risky behaviours & extra curricular activities that increase your risk for infection.

  • If you smoke marijuana make sure your device mouthpiece is cleaned and disinfected with alcohol.

  • Once healed use a high SPF lip balm to protect your lips from sun exposure.

Following these guidelines will help ensure the best possible results for your lip blush treatment.
